Mens Gold Wedding Rings
So much can be said with something as simple as a gold ring. No matter the style or price, simply wearing a ring is a sign of devotion, a signal to all the world that your heart is already taken. For men gold wedding rings can have an additional significance: an elaborate, beautiful gold wedding ring is not only a symbol of devotion, but also one of wealth, status, and power.
The wedding ring is an internationally recognized symbol. More than nearly anything else, wedding rings for men or women cross cultural boundaries to relay an instantly recognizable message.
The earliest known history of wedding rings is of hand woven rings made from reeds or hemp growing along the Nile river in West Africa. Just as today, the rings were worn as a symbol of love and devotion, the eternal nature of the circle a symbol of the love that would persist forever. Of course, a life of leisure was unknown at that time, and the toils of hard work would soon wear down and destroy the ring, whereupon a new one would be crafted. For a more lasting ring, many opted instead for one of leather, bone or ivory.
As metallurgy took over civilization, the evolution of the ring similarly followed. Early metal rings were iron, to signify the strength of a man`s love for his wife. Later, gold wedding rings were adopted to show the man trusted his wife with his valuable property, as at the time, gold rings were used more for trade than for sentiment.
Throughout the history of wedding rings, from the humble reeds of the Nile to modern gold wedding rings, the wedding ring has been worn on the same finger – the third finger of the left hand. This is not by accident. It was believed then, and is still offered as a reason on modern times, that the veing running through this particular finger is the only one that goes directly to the heart, thereby carrying the message of love from the ring itself to the heart of the beloved.
